Betty Ann Chapman Garrison

Betty Ann Chapman Garrison, 77, of Morganton died Monday, January, 12, 2015. Mrs. Garrison was born in Burke County on May 1, 1937 to the late Charles Garfield Chapman and Vertie Prewitt Chapman. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors, gardening, traveling and her time with her friends at Phifer Wellness Center.
In addition to her parent, Mrs. Garrison is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Malone Garrison; son John David Garrison; siblings, Earsel Chapman, Thelma Smith, Mae Bullins, Myrleen Dale, Sue Benfield, Brenda Johnson and Louise Denton.
Mrs. Garrison is survived by her children, Rhonda Garrison Abernathy and her husband, Dr. David S. Abernathy and son, Douglas M. Garrison both of Morganton; grandchildren, Kelli Michelle Abernathy Shackelford and her husband, David of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kristan Diana Abernathy of Morganton; siblings, Vivian Ross, Willard Chapman and his wife, Peggy and Donald Chapman and his wife, Vernie all of Morganton and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Michael Stutesman and staff at Morganton Internal Medicine, as well as the staff at Grace Heights.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
