Betty Cook Roper

Betty Cook Roper, 75, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Valdese Hospital. Born in Burke County, NC on June 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William Bryant Cook and Addie Leola Lail Cook. Betty enjoyed flower gardening and loved her feline companions, "Little Bit" and "Milo".Betty is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Robert Roper of the home; sons, Dennis Roper and Chad Roper and wife, Wendy, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Joshua Roper, Jacob Roper, and Courtney Roper; a great-grandson, Ian Roper; a brother, Clyde Cook and wife, Ruth, of Morganton; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Cook and C.D. Cook; and a sister, Joyce Pruett.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Nowling’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverends Darvy Hensley and Jack Moses officiating. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the graveside service. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
