Betty Fox Goodman

Betty Fox Goodman, 81, of Green Pasture Lane, Valdese, NC, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on August 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Crudup Ouray Fox and Mary Eunice Mauney Fox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Fox Carroway, and a brother, Glen Ray Fox. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Morganton.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, M. A. "Short" Goodman, Jr. of the home; children, Mary Beth Goodman Fletcher of Valdese, Susan Goodman Secrest and husband, Jonathan of Drexel, NC; Steven Lee Goodman and wife, Jan, of Morganton, NC; and Nancy Goodman of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Jason Secrest of Raleigh, NC, Adam Secrest of Charlotte, NC, Alex Goodman, Matt Goodman, and Wade Goodman, all of Houston, TX, Jordan Crump of Morganton, Carol Ray of Fort Smith, AR, and Christy Traylor of Columbus, NC; great-grandchildren, Katie Ray, Houston Ray, Mary Ray, Hadley Huffman, Ryder Huffman, Hunter Goodman, Wade Goodman and Ava Goodman; a brother, James J. Fox of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
