Betty Jean Piercy Hawkins

Betty Jean Piercy Hawkins, 91, of Glen Alpine passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019.  Born in Raleigh County, WV on November 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Vollie Adam Piercy and Ruby Jackson Piercy.  Betty was a member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church.  She enjoyed flowers, watching birds, and working in her garden. 

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty is survived by her son, Larry Johnny Hawkins and wife, Jean, of Morganton; daughter, Treva Jordan and husband, Eddie, of Glen Alpine; grandchildren, Johnny Hawkins of Morganton, Melinda Stamey of Valdese, Bobby Jordan of Morganton, and Amy Dale of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Kiera Hawkins, Lex Hawkins, Dominique Marco, Jennifer Marco, Jackson Marco, Sean Jordan, Kyleigh Dale, and Lily Dale; sisters, Doris McCall of Morganton, Marie Goins of Glen Alpine, and Libby Letterman of Forest City; and a brother, Johnny Piercy of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hawkins; an infant son, Bobby Hawkins; and two brothers, Howard and Bill Piercy.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Cris Uren officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
