Betty Joyce Brown

Betty Joyce Brown, 87, of Morganton went to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Max Denton and Inez Martin Denton.  Betty was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed getting out of the house to go shopping.

Betty is survived by her grandson, Morgan Brown (Michelle) of Valdese; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Brown Metcalf (Tyler) of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Abigail Brown, Gracie Brown, and Cash Metcalf; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson R. Brown; son, Dergan Brown; brothers, Carl and Calvin Denton; and sister, Christine Penland.

The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Clark officiating.
