Betty Kaye Wright Epley, 77, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord and her beloved mother on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Born in Caldwell County, NC on September 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Claude Goodman Wright, Sr. and Thelma Dakota Coffey Wright. Kaye was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and worked for Drexel Furniture for over 26 years. She enjoyed quilting and working in the yard. She was truly a loving and devoted woman to all in need.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Jimmy Thomas Epley of the home; children, Lisa Pitts Watson of Morganton, Jeffrey Pitts and wife, Olivia, of Lenoir, James Epley and wife, Tammy, of Greer, SC, and Tammy Epley Bradley and husband, Johnny, of Nebo; step-children, Jeff Epley and wife, Loretta, Lisa Epley Shoun, and Debbie Dyson and husband, Bobby. She had fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Charles, Rodney, Tom, Rocky, and William Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
In addition to her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Steve, and Rex Wright.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Dr. Dewey Thomas and Rev. Keith Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
