Betty Ledbetter Chester

Betty Ledbetter Chester, 88, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 following a period of declining health.  Born on February 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Herndon Ledbetter and Della McGinnis Ledbetter.  Betty was a woman of faith and loved the Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Chris Wellman of Morganton, Junette Chester of Bluefield VA, and Jonathon Chester of Jacksonville, FL; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Chester; daughter, Doris Avery; son, Joseph Chester, Sr.; grandson, Joseph Chester, Jr.; and sisters, Frances Chester, Mable Riddle, and Rosalie Fultz.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
