Betty Mabe Glasbrook

Betty Mabe Glasbrook, 84, of Drexel, NC died Friday, June 7, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on October 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Gilmore Mabe and Lollie Elizabeth Smith Mabe. Betty was a lifetime member of Calvary Lutheran Church and enjoyed her bridge club and friends.Betty is survived by her husband, Sam J. Glasbrook of the home; a daughter, Donna Lynne Glasbrook of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Amanda Mabe of Morganton, NC; nephews, Craig and Brad Shinaman of North Wilkesboro, NC; a niece, Belinda Mabe Mascol of Ohio; and a number of great-nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, John G. Mabe, Jr.; and a sister, Sara Mabe Shinaman.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 119 North King Street, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
