Betty Poteet, 85, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on August 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William Marston Stillwell and Minnie Brittain Stillwell.

Betty loved the Lord was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family and spending time with them. She was a caring person who never complained, put others before herself, and was always serving others. She enjoyed shopping on QVC.

Betty is survived by her sons, Patrick Poteet (Kristen), Russell Poteet (Beverly), and Keith Poteet (Rebecca); grandchildren, Oliva Poteet, Micaiah Poteet, Iain Poteet (Chloe), Mia Choate (William), Silas Poteet, Aliyah Poteet, Clay Poteet (Catherine), Eli Poteet (Kaitlyn Kincaid), Zachary Poteet (Macy Smith), Ashlyn DeLabio (Anthony), Aden Lunsford, Devin Poteet, Aleah Royal, and Scottie Davis (Micheala); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rheala, Braelee, and Emberleigh; sister, Lois Holland (Grover Jr.); and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Poteet; and siblings, Lucille Stillwell, Geneva Pollard, Bud Stillwell, Roy Stillwell, Paul Stillwell, and Howard Stillwell.

Services for Betty will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org).

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
