Betty Swink Coffey

Betty Swink Coffey, 82, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020.  Born June 19, 1937, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late John Henry Swink and Bertha Lee Fleming Swink.

Betty dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and friends.  Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, traveling, and photography.  Betty’s creative spirit was handed down to all of her family. 

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Coffey; daughter, Donna Jo Williams; sisters, Rosie Stamey and Shirley Swink; and brother, Bill Swink.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Cindy Williams Hill (Michael) and Tammy Williams McKay (Craig); son, John Robert Williams; grandchildren, Michael J., Matthew, Autumn, Andy, Reid, Tyler, Cheyenne, Cody, Courtney, and Alisha; along with seventeen great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are siblings, Johnny Swink (Faye) and Barbara Swink Randall; and sister-in-law, Brenda Swink.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park.  Tammy and Craig will welcome family and friends at their home at 4 p.m. following the graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Burke Hospice or Blue Ridge Community Action Adult Day Care.
