Beulah Beatrice Anderson

Beulah Beatrice Anderson, 91, of US 64, Morganton, NC died Friday, September 17, 2010 at Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on August 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Amos Smith and Ethel Bowers Smith. Beulah was a member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She graduated from Glen Alpine High School in 1936 and retired from Western Carolina Center.Affectionately known as "Mama Annie," Beulah is survived by her daughter, Janice Elizabeth Clark of Dalton, GA; a son, Ronald Anderson and wife, Karetha, of Bostic, NC; grandchildren, Cherie Hawkins Jakubowski and Michael Clark, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Jakubowski, Anderson Clark, and Lizbeth Clark; great-grand godchild, Mara Tate; surrogate grandchildren, Steven Lin and wife, Helen; and surrogate great-grandchildren, Joy, Joshua, and Jason Lin.In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Anderson; two brothers, Horace and Vernon Smith; three sisters, Estelle Orders, Iris Mull, and Edrie Smith; two nephews, Bill Port and Travis Anderson; and two nieces, Tonnie Perkins and Avis Kehoe..A graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Karl Kelly and Floyd Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
