Beulah Huffman Lail

Beulah Huffman Lail, 91, of River Rd. in Morganton died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Carolina Rehab of Burke. Born December 19, 1921 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Milas Huffman and Timey Huffman. Beulah was an active member of Smart’s Grove Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for several years. She loved to cook for church revivals and dinners. For a few years, Beulah worked at Alba Waldensian in Valdese. She was an avid quilter, seamstress, and gardener.Beulah is survived by her husband, Carlie E. Lail of the home; children, Bonnie Smith and husband, Marvin "Joe", Benny Lail and wife, Geraldine, Carl Lail and wife, Evelyn, Bernice Harmon and husband, Larry, and Gerald Lail, all of Morganton; thirteen grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Elaine Lail; brothers, Charles, Kermit, Robert, Earl, Guy, and Plez Huffman; and sisters, Bertha Mace and Tessie Wellman.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Smart’s Grove Baptist Church with the Reverends Charles Lewis and Finley McCoury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
