Beulah S. Phillips

Beulah S. Phillips, 102, of Asheville St., Morganton, NC died Monday, December 24, 2007, at Grace Heights following a period of declining health. She was born in McDowell County on June 20, 1905 and was a daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Lail Secrest. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Hennessee Phillips; her step-mother, Sara Secrest; sons, Cameron Phillips, J. D. Phillips, James Phillips, and Johnny Phillips; brothers, Albert Secrest, Robert Lee Secrest, and Arlis Secrest; and by sisters, Mamie Whisenant, Christine Harvey, and Mildred Smith.Mrs. Phillips was a loving, caring mother, sister, and grandmother, and she is survived by a son, Robert Phillips; daughters, Mary Neimeyier and Ruby Austin and her husband, Richard; a sister, Louise McFalls, all of Morganton; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at Asheville Street Baptist Church with the Reverends Douglas Goforth and McCoy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the Fellowship Hall. At other times the family will be at the home of Mary Neimeyier on Asheville Street.
