Bill Edward Lyle

Bill Edward Lyle, 82, of Phoenix Dr. in Morganton died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Grace Heights following an extended illness. He was born December 2, 1925 in Wilkes County, and was a son of the late William Everett Lyle, Sr. and Zora Mash Lyle. Bill was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church, and the Salem Ruritan Club. Bill worked for Giles Motors and then retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings.He is survived by his wife, Glenda Walters Lyle of the home; sons, Michael Lyle and wife, Debi, of Raleigh, NC, and Danny Lyle and wife, Lisa, of Valdese, NC; a daughter, Jeanne Lyle of Morganton; a brother, Charles Lyall and wife, Oma, of West Virginia; sisters, Marjorie Hayes and husband, Bill, of Moravian Falls, NC, Betty Furr of Charlotte, NC, and Louise Bare of Crumpler, NC; grandchildren, Scott Lyle and wife, Kim, and Kristy Lyle; and step-grandchildren, Nichole Pyatte and T. J. Watkins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Guy, Kinley "Dob", W.E. "Jr.", and Bernard Lyle.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Rev. David Mills and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
