Bill Lane

Bill Lane, 78, of Morganton, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. He was born May 26, 1933 in Burke County to the late Jessie William Lane and Effie Maie Lane. Bill was a logger by trade and attended Silver Creek Baptist Church.Bill is survived by his companion, Linda Rhom of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Miller of Burke County; one grandson; a brother, Henry Lane of Morganton; a sister, Dorothy O’Brian and her husband, John, of Putney, GA; five nephews; one niece; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Jim Bollinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
