Billy Carroll Hartman

Billy Carroll Hartman, 72, of Valdese, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his residence. Born in Lincoln County, NC on November 6, 1938, he was the son of the late James Russell Hartman and Essie Della Davis Hartman. Billy was a member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church where he loved to attend his adult men’s Sunday School class. He retired from Burke Mills and worked at several of the local furniture manufacturers. In his early years he drove for Mimosa Taxi. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch NASCAR.Billy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nina Copeland Hartman of the home; daughters, Dawn Hartman Williams and husband, Steve, of Morganton, NC and Terrie Hartman Setzer and husband, Kyle, of Hickory, NC; grandchildren (whom he was very proud of), Nathan Williams, Madison Williams, Brayden Setzer, and Kylie Setzer; a brother, Russell Junior Hartman and wife, Lynn, of Morganton; and a sister, Geraldine H. Cline of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey John Hartman.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. George Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
