Billy Clontz, 94, of Glen Alpine, NC, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on April 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Glenn Clontz and Eva Estell Duckworth Clontz.

He attended Word of Faith in Spindale.

Billy was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a petty officer 3rd class from 1947 to 1954, and he played on the fleet fast-pitch softball team. Billy helped build dams in Iraq, worked at Giles Motors, and owned and operated B & G Used Cars. He was a generous man who had the biggest heart, and he taught his family the value of friendship.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Michael Clontz, Vincent Ledford, and Shannon Ledford (Kristen); grandchildren, Kason Ledford, Trey Ledford, Morgan Ledford, and Christopher Killen; brothers, Harold Clontz and R. G. Clontz, Jr.; and his former wife, Faye Clontz.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death his momma who raised him, Clara Duckworth Clontz; wife, Linda Kaye Pritchard Clontz; daughter, Audrey Clontz; brothers, Robert “Rob” Clontz and Bennett Clontz; sisters, Olivia Lackey, Francis Shirley, and Durlene Shuffler.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Cris Uren officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
