Billy Ray Watts

Billy Ray Watts, 73 of Granite Falls, NC passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017. He was born in Catawba County, NC and was the son of the late Floyd Propst and Louanna Cox Propst. Billy was employed at Siecor for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing. Billy retired and moved to the coast. After his health started to decline he moved back to Caldwell County. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Billy was a loving husband and father and loved the Lord. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Willis Watts; sons, Doug Davis, Chris Davis; daughter, Pam Sherrill and husband, Lee; grandchildren, Emily, Courtney, and Sydney Davis; sisters, Mary Ann “Penny” Reid and husband, Jerry, Violet Powell and husband, Ernie; brother, Glen Propst; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at Wilkes Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Thurman Roe officiating. Burial will follow at Brookford Cemetery in Hickory with military honors provided by the National Guard and Caldwell County Honor Guard.
