Always the life of the party, Blanche, known to many as Slick, would light up any room with laughter.

She always had a smile on her face, yet she never hesitated to speak her mind.

Blanche was warm, sweet, witty, loving, stubborn & hard headed. She had a love language of service, always willing to give of herself for others.

Blanche Arona Jarrett, 88 of Morganton NC passed away on April 20, 2023 after declining health. Born on April 23,1934 in Avery Co. NC. to Coy Burleson & Pauline Winters Burleson. She was one of eight children.

She attended Glen Alpine School.

Blanche worked at Southern Devices from the late 1960’s until she retired in 1983 to care for her disabled husband, Charlie, which she did for 25yrs, until his death in 2008.

Blanche enjoyed all sports & always had her TV on ESPN. Duke Blue Devils Basketball & Coach K were her favorite. She never missed her grandchildren’s activities & was always there cheering them on. She loved her road trips with the family whether it was a daily ride to the mountains or a plane trip out west. She enjoyed gardening & cooking for get togethers up on Muddy Creek. Blanche truly enjoyed listening to country music & shaking a tail feather every now & again. Some say her heart belonged to George Jones.

Nothing made Blanche happier or was more important to her than spending time with her family. She made sure to speak to her siblings often, if not daily. She & her sisters had a bond like no other.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Jarrett, brothers Joe & Jack Burleson, sister Reba Jean Parks, grandson Nicholas Allen Spencer.

Blanche is survived by her sisters, Lessie Mae Detter, Alyce Styles, Pat Burleson (Jeff) Dianne Caldwell.

Children, Tony Ollis (Lisa Hayward) Paulette Mojica (Rip) Joyce Jordan (Steve) stepdaughter Karen Sharpe

Grandchildren, Manny Mojica (Paula), Issac Mojica (Kim), Shanna Wall (Darren), Noah Spencer (Myra), Shayne Jordan (Whitney), Adam Vanderwel

Nine great grandchildren & one great great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Friday, May 5, 2023 at Bridge 42, formally Calvin Heights.

My precious Slick, I have pondered what I wanted to say for a few days, because when I think of you and realize you are gone from this side of heaven, I cry and cry. I don't need to tell you how much I love you because I know in my heart you knew, and you knew that Bob adored you too! From the moment you flew here 20 yrs ago and came to meet him, to this very moment. I have struggled with doing any type of memoriam because I don't want this to be how I express my feelings, because it is the ultimate reminder that you are no longer here, and if anything it's for my own broken-hearted self. Slick, I will never forget the beautiful fall day in October of 1992 when I met you for the very first time, but more importantly is when you met my kids, and knowing that we were scared and far from home and with that, you loved them as your own, you loved all 4 of us and as we both agreed that being blood couldn't have brought us any closer, even well after I came back to California. I will always treasure our long conversations your encouragement, your advice, you're not turning your back when my life was a disaster, your understanding and lastly your pride and happiness that my life did a complete turn around and that I had finally found my happy place. Slick you were "The Last Amazing Woman Standing " There was my Mother, my Grandmother and You, the 3 women who had a great impact/ influence on my life and now more than ever I feel like an orphan, but again I know that you loved me, and I am so happy and grateful Bob and I got to spend those 5 days seeing you last June. Bob's heart is truly heavy however he holds strong for me, As you always admired him for. I will keep the promises you asked of me and I intend on forever keeping them for letting you down is not an option. We will miss you deeply but both Bob and I know we will see you again on the other side. and well heaven is a more beautiful place with you in it! I love you my sweet Slick and may you rest in Heavenly peace 🤍🙏🕊

Sure do miss you " Slick " . Our morning conversations, mostly you telling me to heat up your coffee :) Your need for chocolate after every meal . Telling me that you weren't hungry but would eat every bite I cooked for you. Our road trips where you said you couldn't see, but always knew where we were . So glad I got to spend your last months getting to know you. It was truly an honor. Wish we would have had more time together. PS like I promised you, I will take good care of your daughter. Rest easy dear lady, till we meet again. Love Rip

You’ve been on my mind, in my heart & in every conversation I’ve had mama! The kids & I got together up at Muddy Creek Sunday to celebrate you & all the joy, laughter & wisdom you so lovingly shared with us over the years. We laughed tears at some of those great memories. We ate chocolate for dessert because we all know how much you loved your chocolate & we sang Happy Birthday to you our precious lil’ mama & nana! We cried because the pain is almost unbearable! But, we all want to strong like you mama because you are the strongest person we all know! And yes, of course we listen to George Jones & I shared with the kids & kiddos some of our concert experiences. I hope you’re not still mad at me about missing the Duke - Maryland game. I had to insisted you go to the emergency room after your fall down the steps outside of Shanna’s dorm! That was a pretty bad laceration on your leg that needed to be stitched up! But boy, were you made at me. Attending that game was so important to you… you were so excited! I’ll never forget you telling me you’d never forgive me! 🥰 I’m just happy you finally got to attend a live Duke Blue Devils basketball game!! Please know we will keep you in our hearts & lives always & forever!! You will never be forgotten & your legacy lives on! Rest easy my lil’ mama & be at peace. I will see you again & pester you a bit more, all in the name of love!! 💔♥️
