Bob Tallent

Bob Tallent, 68, of Morganton took the hand of Jesus on Thursday, May 27, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on July 5, 1952, he was the son of the late James Otis Tallent and Ethel Mull Tallent.  Bob was a charter member and choir director of Brookwood Baptist Church.  He owned and operated Horton Homes.  He was lead singer of Changing Times and Free Spirit, and he was an avid Duke fan.  Bob enjoyed gardening and playing golf.

Mr. Tallent is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherrie Lowman Tallent; sons, Scotty Tallent and wife, Monica, and their son, Noah; son, Brandon Tallent and wife, Christy, their children, Tyler, Stormie, Justin, and Sammy, and their granddaughter, Briella Grace; brothers, Ted and Allen Tallent; sisters, Betty Kincaid, Faye Bailey, and Nancy Pearson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Modean Smith.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Brookwood Baptist Church.  The memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. in the church with Rev. Earl Cross officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care.
