Bobby “Bob” Alvin Ledford

Bobby “Bob” Alvin Ledford, 77 of Morganton went to his heavenly home Feb. 5, 2021. He was the son of the late Ralph “Pete” Alvin Ledford and Mary Inez Gillenwater Ledford.

Bob was born in Scott Co., VA, moved to McDowell Co. then later Burke Co. He was a graduate of Morganton High School. For several years he was employed in textiles as a purchasing agent. During his time in textiles, he worked for Wamsutta Mills, Glen Raven Mills, and Highlander Ltd. Later, Bob decided to go back to school. He was a graduate of W.P.C.C, Appalachian State University, and UNC School of Law. He practiced law in several surrounding counties in NC for 37 years.

Bob never met a stranger. He enjoyed people and his church. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Of all things in his life, he enjoyed his family the most. He was a very loving, caring, and thoughtful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing and reading until his eyesight became too poor to do either. He loved going to auctions and traveling especially to historic places. As his illness progressed, he enjoyed listening to church service, playing games on his phone, texting, and Facebook.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Ledford, his son Mark and wife Anna, and the apple of his eye, his little princess, granddaughter Haven, his daughter Krista, sisters Donna Benner and Debra Short, several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.

The family would like to thank Dawn McGimpsey, a wonderful and caring nurse. Jo, Yvette, and Diane and the entire Hospice personnel that worked with Bob and the family; our church family for all the cards and prayers, and our friends for just being there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Burke Co. 1721 Enon Rd. Valdese, NC 28690 or Zion Baptist Church 3394 Pea Ridge Rd. Morganton, NC 28655. Per his wishes, there will be a private family graveside service
