Bobby "Bob" Yount

Bobby “Bob” Yount, 76, of Morganton went home peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, May 12, 2016.  Bob was born October 23, 1939 in Catawba County to the late Claude Marion Yount and Summa Lail Yount.  He was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church where he had served as youth leader for the MYF.  Bob was a veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard and a member of the Civitan Club.  He enjoyed camping, cooking, wood crafting and a was “jack of all trades”.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his best friend, John Clontz.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marty Irvin Yount; sons, Robert Irvin “Bobby” Yount, Jr. and partner, Frankie of Hendersonville, NC, Brian Yount and girlfriend, Beverly, Brett Yount and wife, Taffi, and Barry Yount and wife, Lisa all of Morganton; grandchildren, Nikki Carter and husband, Chad, Jamie Yount and girlfriend, Mackenzie Triplett, Kendall Yount, Zach Yount, Caleb Sparks, Kristie Yutzy and husband, Glenn, and Krystal Johnson; five great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Martin of Newton; and three nieces.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, May 16, 2016 at North Morganton United Methodist Church with the Reverends Burt Williams and Tony Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Dr., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28619.
