Bobby Carter McDaniel

Bobby Carter McDaniel, 78, of Morganton died Saturday, September 8, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Christopher McDaniel and Lennie Jaynes McDaniel. Bobby was a member and long-time usher of Enon Baptist Church. He was a member of the Morganton Civitan Club and was Civitan of the Year for 1979-1980. Bobby was co-owner of Cloyd and Bob’s Alignment Shop and retired from Burke County in 2005.Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 ½ years, Carolyn of the home; a son, Keith and Danielle, of Morganton; grandchildren, Seth of Morganton and Jena of Valdese; a great-grandchild, Kane; three sisters, Murleen Frances Owensby of Birmingham, AL, Rheba Burleson of Morganton, and Gayree Worley of Morganton; and a special friend, Richard Hooper.In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ervin McDaniel; and a sister, Miriam Whisnant.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 at Enon Baptist Church with Reverends Gary Garner and David Orders officiating with remarks by Seth McDaniel. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
