Bobby Douglas

Bobby Douglas, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Valdese Hospital. He was born in Georgia and was a son of the late William Franklin Douglas and Frances Barrett. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brown Douglas; brothers, Johnny, Junior, and Edward Douglas; a sister, Marie Davis; brother-in-law, Clyde A. Brown; and a sister-in-law, Peggy B. Cook.Bobby retired from Western Carolina Center after 25 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was very active in the Valdese Lions Club for many years and received numerous awards and recognitions; he also served as the club treasurer for 25 years. Bobby and Shirley enjoyed traveling and spending time at their second home in N. Myrtle Beach. Their endless generosity and devotion to their family will truly be missed.Bobby is survived by his brother, Gene Douglas and wife, Marilyn, of Columbus, OH; his sister, Virginia Spaugh and husband, Jim, of Mocksville, NC; a brother-in-law, Robert Cook; sisters-in-law, Nancy Barrett and Cathy Slick; and a number of nieces and nephews.A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and crematory center with Chaplin Johnny A.
