Bobby Gene Costner

Bobby Gene Costner, Sr. 78, of Morganton died Thursday, February 13, 2014. Bobby was born on August 26, 1935 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Joseph Edwin Costner and Fannie Ella Burns Costner. He was a member of Lovelady Masonic Lodge # 670 and East Burke Shrine Club.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Leah Reep Costner.Bobby is survived by his sons; Bobby Gene Costner, Jr. and his wife, Gretchen of Valdese and Clay Costner and his wife, Ginger of Billings, Montana; granddaughters, Kelsey Costner of Valdese and Ashley Costner of Morganton; beloved friend and companion, Diane Burleson of Morganton; his canine companion "Patches"; and a number of nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by Lovelady Masonic Lodge # 670. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655, Shriners Hospitals for Children- Greenville, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, or to Waldensian Presbyterian Church Food Assistance Ministry, 109 Main Street East, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
