Bobby Gene Rutherford

Bobby Gene Rutherford, 58, of Wallace Road, Morganton, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Born in McDowell County, NC on August 19, 1951, he was the son of Maxine Francis Rutherford and the late William B. Rutherford. Bobby was of the Baptist Faith. He was an honor graduate of Isothermal Community College with a degree in cosmetology. He enjoyed fishing and fast cars. He loved his family and his many friends.Bobby is survived by four sisters, Juanita Rutherford, Patricia Shade and Harold, Mary "Frannie" Brown and husband, Donald, and Sharon Rutherford, all of Morganton; aunts and uncles, Ola Caldwell and husband, Robert, Charles Francis, Clarence Francis, Leon Francis, Mary Francis, Virginia Francis, Ruth Rutherford, and Edna Rutherford; nieces and nephews, Kevin Rutherford, Sonia Shade Merrill, Pamela Shade, Candace Rutherford, Donald Brown, Jr., and Brittainy Wright; lifelong special friends, Diane DuBoyd and Tony Ervin; his former wife, Laura C. Rutherford; and a host of other relatives and friends.In addition to his father, Bobby was preceded in death by an infant sister, Pamela K. Rutherford.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Carpenter, Minister Larry Carpenter, Pastor Willis Camp, III, Pastor Rupert Ferguson, and Pastor Anniebelle Corpening officiating. Burial will follow in Park Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
