Bobby Lee "Big Bob" Michaux Sr.

Bobby Lee Michaux Sr, 200 Michaels St. of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Bobby Lee Michaux Sr, born November 22, 1939 to Walter Michaux Sr.& Hester Lee Galliard Michaux who preceded him in death. Others passed previously were his wife Grace Kanipe Michaux, son Maury Michaux, brother Walter (Bucky) Michaux Jr, and great grandson O'Maury Chambers. Bobby was a faithful member of Gaston Chapel AME Church, which he joined at an early age. Bobby was a leader & participated in several organizations. Bobby always gave his time to volunteer for different projects at the church. Bobby touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with, no matter where he was, he was a friend to many. When you meet him, you would never forget his big personality. They called him Big Bob, because he had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back. Bobby graduated from Olive Hill High School & attended Johnson C. Smith University on an academic and athletic scholarship. After college he worked in the furniture industries and worked hourly and management positions. He retired from Inmont and Drexel Furniture Corporation. Throughout his life Bobby had a drive to be an entrepreneur. He had several businesses including: restaurants, carwash, clubs and stores. He was enthusiasm about owning his own business. He was extremely passionate about sports. He loves to attend & watch basketball, football & golf. If UNC basketball or football was on there was talking around him, this was an exciting & relaxing time for him. Tiger Woods, LeBron James and Steph Carey were his heroes in the sports world. Bobby is survived by his beloved family, to treasure his memories, his daughters, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, cousin, aunt and sisters in law & brothers in laws. Bobby loved life and life will never be the same without him.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April, 20, 2021 from 1 until to 2pm, at Sossoman Funeral Home, 1011 S. Sterling St., Morganton, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, April, 20, 2021 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gaston Chapel AME Building Fund.
