Bobby Mills Watts

Bobby Mills Watts, 75, died Monday, May 12, 2008 at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. He was born August 30, 1932 in Morganton to the late D .Mills Watts and Hester Prewitt Watts. He had been in ill health for a number of years and was residing at Burke Long-Term Care until his final illness. Bobby was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and loved his Lord. He was a retired employee of Shadowline, Inc. in Morganton. Bobby was devoted to his family. He loved to sing, and especially enjoyed classical music.He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Patton and Susan Kanipe (Mrs. James), both of Morganton; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rama Mills and Bettijoe Harbison, both of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by brothers, Guy O. Watts, who died in infancy, Edison "Bud" Watts, and Harold D. Watts; and sisters, Beulah Allen, Edna Piercy, and Melva Hyder.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:15 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 1167, Hickory, NC 28603-1167, or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
