Bobby “Shey” Rathburn, 45 of Morganton, NC passed away, Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Born on January 1, 1977, he was the son of Mary Elain Buchanan and the late Bobby Gene Rathburn.
In addition to his mother, Shey is survived by his wife, Shanea Rathburn; daughter, Raelyn Wilson; son, Skyler Durham; granddaughter, Adalynn Burroughs; brother, Spencer Reece; sister, Buffy Butler (Brad); nephew, Brody Butler; canine companion, Tucker.
A memorial service will be held at 1p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 at The Bridge Worship Center Church and Tent Ministries, 3186 US 70 East, Morganton, NC 28655.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home the family to help with funeral expenses.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I met Shey through my uncle, Gerry Potoka, when I was shadowing his work schedule. I fell in love with Shey and stayed in touch with him as long as I could. I'm a singer-songwriter so we had music in common, as well as our faith. I'm still thankful for the light he brought and thankful he is now at rest with the Lord. When my sister passed away at a untimely age I felt better knowing that Shey would be there, among other people. Thank you for reading.
