Bonnie Mae Williams Phillips

Bonnie Mae Williams Phillips, 87, of Morganton was called home to be with her Heavenly Father, with her family by her side, on Monday, September 9, 2013. She was born on January 4, 1926 in Burke County to the late Jesse James Williams and Eva Mae Herron Williams. She was an active member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught children’s Sunday School, and served on many church committees. Family was very important to Bonnie and she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her extended family. She enjoyed sewing and working in her garden. She was an angel to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Cameron H. Phillips; daughters, Faye Phillips Warlick and Martha Phillips Dyson; sisters, Vida Richardson, Ruth Stevens and Mary Chapman.Beloved daughter, wife, Mom and "Mawmaw", she is survived by a son, Jimmy Phillips and his wife, Margaret of Morganton; grandchildren, Hope Hudepeth and her husband, Tim, Diane Oliver and her husband, Jason, Brooke Simmerer and her husband, Mark, Jassen Phillips and his wife, Tonya, Steve Dyson, David Warlick; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren; sisters, Raye Leonhardt, Margaret Deitz, Sue Hallyburton, Alice Williams, Marie Richardson all of Morganton, Ruby Pons of Valdese, and Donnie Plemmons of Waynesville,The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Thompson and Rev. George Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
