Brenda Bishop Denton, “Chi”

Brenda Bishop Denton, “Chi”, 73 of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018 at her home. She was born on June 7, 1944 in Guilford County to the late William Roy Bishop and Rose Leonard Bishop.
Mrs. Denton was a member of South Mountain Baptist Church and also attended Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and granny who loved her family dearly. Brenda worked with mentally challenged elderly people at Foothills Respite. She liked taking vacations to the beach. Being outside working in her roses and listening to her wind chimes gave her much pleasure.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John H. Denton, Sr. and her twin sister, Linda Kay Bishop Harris.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Christine D. Ray and husband, Anthony of Morganton; son, “Bo” John H. Denton, Jr. and wife, Tonya Lynn of Morganton; and Chris and Bo’s sister, Charity Denton. Also surviving are grandsons, Cody Ray and wife, Amanda and Dustin Ray and wife, Tina; granddaughters, Jessica Ray, and Alexia Brown; nephew, “Jay” James Floyd Harris; four great-grandchildren; and a number of extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Thompson and Rev. Ken Baker officiating. The burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
