Brenda Jackaleen "Jackie" Webb Pearson

Brenda Jackaleen "Jackie" Webb Pearson, 71, passed on in the presence of her family at Mission Hospital on Friday, March 14, 2014 after a period of declining health.Jackie was a caring and generous person who took great interest in the lives of her family and friends. She was an active member of Mount Home Baptist Church where she attended since childhood. At the church, she served on numerous committees over the years and was active in the life of that body of Christ. Despite limited mobility in recent years, she remained actve in ministering to others over the telephone.Jackie was a lifelong resident of Morganton and the Sunnyside community. She graduated from Salem High School in 1960 and maintained contact with many schoolmates since then. She attended Queens College in Charlotte and afterward worked as a medical secretary for the pathologist at Grace Hospital. She then worked for a short time at Western Carolina Center. In 1981, she took over an Avon business started by her mother and continued it with the help of her husband, Jerry, until illness forced her to slow down. She most enjoyed the communication with others that this business provided.Jackie’s greatest qualities included her personal strength, optimism, and care of others. She suffered from rheumatoid arthritis from her teen years but did not let that disease diminish her ability to encourage others, celebrate their achievements, and offer support during challenging times. She truly ministered to others through her actions and example.Jackie was the oldest daughter of the late Jack and Lura Mull Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Webb.Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Pearson of the home; children, Scott Pearson and his wife, Mitzi, of Mars Hill, NC, Andrew Pearson and his wife, Teresa, of Statesville, NC, and Christopher Pearson and his wife, Crystal, of Marion, NC; a brother, Paul Webb and his wife, Phyllis, of Morganton; and a sister, Shirley Roberson and her husband, Marshall, of Lake Wylie, SC.The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, March 17, 2014 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30am-1:00pm prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Graceful Giving Fund of Mount Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
