Brenda Kay Ross

Brenda Kay Ross, 61, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017.  Born in Yancey County, NC on January 6, 1956, she was the daughter of the late James Kelly Layell and Mary Thelma Stiles Layell.

Brenda is survived by 2 sisters, Teresa Cooper and Betty Suttles; a number of nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Kathy Finley.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Layell.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Jeff Boone officiating.
