Brian Poteet

Brian Poteet, 52, of Morganton went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 17, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on February 27, 1969, he was the son of the Brenda Huffman Stewart (Randy) of Florida and late Bobby Wallace Poteet.  Brian was raised in the Lutheran faith and worked at Foothills Correctional Facility.  He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and was an avid Harley rider.  Brian was a kind, generous person who would stop what he was doing to help others.

In addition to his mother, Brian is survived by his children, Amber Poteet (fiancé, Jimmy Merriman) and Hunter Poteet; the mother of his children, Angela Beam; fiancée, Debra Fisher; sisters, Angela Diane Poteet Adams (Marshall) and Amanda Jo Poteet Klinger (Stephen); brothers, Jason Duane Sipe (Kelly) and Gregory Michael Poteet; aunt, Patsy Earl; uncles, Johnny Huffman, Steve Poteet, and Farrell Poteet. and step-mother, Renee Poteet.

In addition to his father, Brian was preceded in death two uncles, Tom Huffman and Lex Poteet.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Larry Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Honors with be provided by the NC Prison Honor Guard.
