Buddy Hall Mitchem

Buddy Hal Mitchem, 52 of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Grace Hospital, Morganton. Born February 3, 1962 in Catawba County, NC, he was a son of Doris Towery Hopson of Morganton and the late James Hal Mitchem. He was currently employed as a home healthcare technician with Catawba Valley Medical Services. Buddy was a church song leader, an ordained Deacon, and he attended Brookwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Connie Carswell Mitchem; brothers, Dan Mitchem and wife, Teresa of Marion, NC and Chad Hopson and wife, Denise of Morganton; sisters, Lisa Widner and husband, Mike and Jamie Mitchem and husband, Jerry all of Vale, NC; parents-in-law, Joe and Ann Carswell of Morganton; sister-in-law, Frances Curtis and husband, Ronnie of Morganton; brother-in-law, Randy Carswell and wife, Teresa of Morganton; nephews, Bucky Nichols, Gavin Mitchem, A.J. Mitchem, Scott Carswell, and Neil Curtis; nieces, Brandy Massey and Kimberly Curtis; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and other extended family members; and his loving canine companion, Little Bit.

The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Friendly Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Cross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 S.
