Carl B. "Babe" Jordan

Carl B. "Babe" Jordan, 79, of Jamestown Rd., Morganton, NC died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Grace Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1931 in Burke County and was the son of the late Sydney Franklin Jordan and Edna Elizabeth Whisnant Jordan. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.Surviving are his son, Ronnie Jordan and his wife, Kathy, of Conover and their children, Elizabeth and Christopher; a son-in-law, John Cantrell of Morganton and his daughter, Lindsey; a daughter-in-law, Leisa Abee Jordan of Morganton her children, Zachary and Jonathan; and a brother-in-law, Roy Chapman of Morganton. Mr. Jordan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and by a special friend, Dorothy Gantt of Newton.In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Janette Chapman Jordan; son, Billy Ray Jordan; daughter, Pamela Jordan Cantrell; two brothers; and three sisters.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the National Guard. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund, 4264 Mt.
