Carl Cuba Crooks, 86, of Connelly Springs, NC, went home to be with the Lord and his wife on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Born in Burke County, NC on December 8, 1937, he was the son of the late John Cuba Crooks and Mary Margaret Browning Crooks.
Carl worked for General Electric for over 30 years before he retired. He proudly served in the US Army. He loved sports cars, racing, fishing, and living on Lake James.
Carl is survived by his brother, James Russell Crooks; sister, Annie Laura Jaynes; step-daughters, Pat Styles, Joann Larmore (Joey), Nola Smith, and Myra Setzer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye Gross Crooks; and siblings, Naomi Crooks Johnson, Nancy Crooks Newton, Louise Stamey, Earl Monroe Crooks, Pauline Yancey, John Junior Crooks, and Mary Martha Crooks Cooper.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Mashburn officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

so sorry to hear of Carl's passing, we enjoyed our visits with him. I think he enjoyed life, he talked about his younger times. to pat and her sisters, y'all did such a good job taking of carl, bringing him supper, groceries and taking him for appointments, haircuts and any place he needed to go. Alice would have so proud of you girls.
