Carl "Dean" Wilson, 63, of Morganton died Sunday, January 4, 2015. Dean was born July 19, 1951 in Mitchell County to the late George Pinkney Wilson and Bertie Ethel Ledford Wilson. He was a devoted and active member of Silver Creek Baptist Church where he gave many hours of his time and love. Dean dearly loved his family. He worked for 33 years at Thomas and Howard Distributors in Hickory, which later became H. T. Hackney Co. Dean also worked for Turning Point Services at their Pilot Mountain School facility. He was an avid fisherman and loved working outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John, Jack, and Fred Wilson.
Dean is survived by his wife, Deborah Rogers Wilson; daughter, Rebecca Wilson Glover and husband, Lee of Morganton; siblings, Essie Harris and husband, Lloyd of Morganton; Dorothy Parlier and husband, Wendell of Morganton; Gertrude Huskins of Burnsville; Bill Wilson and wife, Renda of Morganton; and Clyde Wilson and wife, Frances of Morganton; sister-in-law, Maphrie Wilson of Burnsville; parents-in-law, Stanley and Marie Rogers of Morganton; and brothers-in-law, Michael Rogers and wife, Kathy and Dwight Rogers and wife, Monica all of Morganton.
A celebration of Dean's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Silver Creek Baptist Church with the Reverends, Larry Thompson, Lloyd Harris, and Freddie Williams officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. There will be a private family entombment at the church cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Silver Creek Baptist Church, 4504 Silver Creek Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
