Carl Edward Harris

Carl Edward Harris, 95 of Morganton, NC went to his eternal heavenly Home, Saturday, October 29, 2022. Born on January 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Otis Sr. and Wecie Duckworth Harris. Carl was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was an Assistant Manager at Belk in Morganton where he later retired. Carl was a professional baseball player after serving in WWII, in Texas. He played in the Minors all over the United States where he had a lifetime batting average of 300+.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Jean Harris; brother, Otis Harris, Jr.; grandson, Michael Harris.

Carl is survived by his children, Gary Harris (Amy) and Francine York (Ronnie); grandsons, Brian York, Jeremy York (Sharon) , granddaughter Haley Leger; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Reagan, Merritt, Cambrie, Lealon, Cecil, and Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 11-12pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Butch Osborne officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
