Carl Franklin "Frank" Wellmon

Carl Franklin "Frank" Wellmon, 79, of Poteat Drive, Drexel, NC died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Burke Palliative Care Center following a brief illness. Born on June 6, 1931, he was the son of the late B. S. Wellmon and Sarah Mabel Poston Wellmon. After retiring from the profession of construction, he became a faithful caregiver to his family. Frank was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.Frank is survived by his brother, Alvin Eugene Wellmon of Rutherford College, NC; sisters, Willie W. Annas of Rutherford College, Nina Kirk Wellmon of Drexel, NC, and Mabel Joy Wellmon of Drexel; a sister-in-law, Brenda Wellmon of Charlotte, NC; and a number of nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Hershel Wellmon and Curtis Lee Wellmon, and sisters, Dorothy Boone and Elizabeth Frances Wellmon.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Sally Queen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Abernathy Memorial United Methodist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 127, Rutherford College, NC 28671. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
