Carl Walton Morrison

Carl Walton Morrison, 80 of Morganton, NC died Sunday, May 1, 2016. He was born in Burke County, NC on December 23, 1935 and was the son of the late Willie Webb Morrison and Annie Mae Clontz Morrison. Carl was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church. For many years he managed and worked as the mechanic at College Phillips 66. He also later had his own auto repair shop on US 70 West. He loved camping. He helped establish West End Fire Dept. and worked tirelessly to help organize Brentwood Water Corp. Carl loved his grandkids and the kids in his community. He was a Mason and a member of Catawba Valley Lodge #217.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Bob, Glenn and Kenneth Morrison; and sister Betty Jean Morrison.

Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Wehunt Morrison of the home; daughter, Carla Morrison Adams and special friend, Gary Mosley of Morganton; grandchildren, Joshua “Big Bo John” Adams and wife Katrina and Meridith “Princess” Adams; great-grandchildren, Megan “Monkey” Adams, Chelsea “Precious” Adams, and Nicholas “Bo John” Adams; brother, Ralph Morrison and wife Emma of Glen Alpine; sisters, Dorothy Brittain and husband, Verlie, of Valdese and Eloise McLean of Morganton; and a number of beloved nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with Reverends Richard Magnuson and Nancy Krall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery will masonic rites conducted by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to Snow Hill United Methodist Church, 5425 Snow Hill Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
