Carol Jean Carswell

Carol Jean Carswell, 71, of Morganton died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born in Carroll County, VA on March 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Howard Brooks and Ola Baugus Brooks. Carol was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed her art working and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Carol is survived by her husband, Robert Carswell of the home; sons, Lloyd Carswell and wife, Rhonda, and Sherrill Dean Carswell and wife, Robin, all of Morganton; daughters, Patsy Andrews and husband, Tom, and Sheila Letterman, all of Morganton; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Gambill of Greensboro, NC.In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Friendly Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Michaels officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence, 4972 Rob Carswell St., Morganton.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
