Carole Hollifield Perkins

Carole Hollifield Perkins, 65 of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at McDowell Hospital, Marion, NC following a period of declining health. Born in McDowell County on August 23, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Virgil R. and Jean Cheek Hollifield. Carole was a retired employee of Western Carolina Center where she had worked for thirty years. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. and Young Men’s and Women’s Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Corum; daughters, Hope Corum and Ginni McGinnis; and a brother, Richard Hollifield.Surviving are her husband of thirty-two years, Ned Perkins of the home; granddaughter, Valerie Whitson; great granddaughter, Caroline Cordell; a sister, Dianne Hollifield of Marion; a son-in-law, Mark McGinnis; Ned’s children, Kenneth Allen Perkins and Sandra Pendley both of Morganton, and Lisa Walker of Gamewell; other grandchildren, Beth Cordell and husband, Tripp, Eric Crump, and Kevin Perkins and wife, Kimberly; other great grandchildren, Cameron Perkins, Cara and Jamie Newton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Zion Baptist Church with the Reverends Keith Rose and Scott Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
