Caroline Huntley Riddle

Caroline Huntley Riddle, 77, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born in Caldwell County on October 18, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Clarence O. and Catherine Pulliam Huntley. Ms. Riddle was preceded in death by an infant son; brothers, David and Neil Huntley; and by a special friend, Oma Hester. Caroline was a retired employee of the Burke County Public Schools where she was as a teacher assistant in several local elementary schools and as an administrator for the DIAL testing program. She also worked for a number of years at The Muses.Surviving are a son, Iverson Riddle Jr. and his wife Beth, of Morganton; daughters, Ruth Riddle Jones of Morganton and Holly Riddle of Chapel Hill; a sister, Diane Hamer and her husband, Alfred, of Morganton grandchildren, Will and J. D. Riddle, Stuart Robinson, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Cole Jones and his wife Lisa, and Sören Harmsen; great-grandchildren, James and Sarah Caroline Robinson; a sister-in-law, Mary Dean Huntley; and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Sydnor Thompson, III and Rev. William Robertson, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. A private inurnment service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
