Carollyn Greene Pruett

Carollyn Greene Pruett, 71, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 after a period of declining health.  Born in Roxboro, NC on July 30, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Edward Marshall Greene and Delma Greene Holt.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Kelly Pruett.

Carollyn was an active member of St. Mary’s and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.  She was a 1964 graduate of Roxboro High School and earned her B.S. in Social Services from Western Carolina University in 1968.  She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.  Carollyn enjoyed shag dancing, and she was a member of the Sandy Beach Shag Club.  Her outreach to the community began by working with military families with the American Red Cross.  She then worked as office manager for the Life Enrichment Center.

Carollyn is survived by her daughters, Holly Pruett Duncan of Hickory and Wendy Pruett Young and husband, Jay, of Fayetteville, WV; son, Kelly Pruett of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, and Matthew Duncan and Lincoln and Amelia Young.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Mary’s and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jim Dahlin officiating.  The family will greet friends on Saturday in the fellowship hall following the service.
