Carolyn Hoyle Towery

Carolyn Hoyle Towery, 71, of Connelly Springs, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 02, 2014. Carolyn was born in Cleveland County on July 22, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Dock Homer Hoyle, Sr. and Pauline Lindsay Hoyle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Alvin Towery; sister-in-law, Soundra Hoyle; and by a niece, Marissa Shimpock.Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and sister who was a wonderful cook and gardener. She was an active participant during the organization and operation of South Mountain Fire Department. Carolyn was a faithful and active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where for many years she taught the preschool Sunday School class and led the G.A. group.Surviving are her children, Brian Towery and Michelle Towery and her brother, Dock Hoyle, Jr.; nephew, Adam Hoyle; niece, Jennifer Cook; great niece, Kalie Cook; great nephews, Will Cook and Wesley Hoyle; sister-in-law, Mozelle Shimpock and husband, John, all of Connelly Springs; and brother-in-law, Bob Towery and wife, Charlene, of Lawndale.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home where her body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.
