Carolyn T. Hanseman

Carolyn T. Hanseman, 72, of Lenoir, NC, went to join her family on Sunday, April 24, 2016. She was born in Will County, Illinois on June 21, 1942 to the late Bill Woodered and Caroline Pershey Burlinsky. She was a member of Walk by Faith Baptist Church in Gamewell. During her life, she worked as a nurse’s aide in several nursing homes. She was an advocate for mental health for the state of North Carolina. Carolyn loved her Lord and her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four husbands; son, David Williams; daughter, Marylin States; a granddaughter, and a sister, Lorraine.
She is survived by her children, Michael Williams of Collettesville, NC, Donnalyn Fannin and husband, Scott, Matthew States all of Tennessee, Carl States and wife, Rainey of Kansas, Jeffery States and wife, Rosa and Carla Hyatt and husband, Johnny, all of Morganton, NC; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 3:00pm until 4:00pm at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A memorial service will follow at 4:00pm with the Rev. Marvin Ford officiating at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 526 Pine Mountain Rd., Hudson, NC 28638. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
