Carrol Gene Epley

Carrol Gene Epley, 76 of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Burke Hospice Palliative Care Center. Born August 13, 1938 in Burke County, he was a son of the late Spencer Albert Epley and Bessie Lee Reep Epley. He was a diesel mechanic at Breedens Poultry and was a vocational instructor at Western Carolina Center. Carrol was a master carpenter and enjoyed restoring old cars. He was a charter member of West End Fire Department and was a faithful member of the Marion Moose Lodge. Carrol was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served three terms as Junior Warden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Albert Lee Epley and Thomas Ervin Epley; brothers-in-law, Andy and Casey Pollard; and his mother-in-law, Mary Sue McGalliard Pollard.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Carol Pollard Epley of the home; a sister, Judy Epley Mills of Morganton; brothers-in-law, Hicks Pollard and wife, Kathryn, Sam Pollard and wife, Jan, and Mark Pollard all of Morganton; nephews, Byron Pollard and wife, Wendy and Damon Pollard and wife, Julie; a niece, Charlotte Pollard; special great nieces and great nephews, Maci, Pate, Burke, Avery, Nyneve, Lige, and Isiss; and his faithful canine companion, Murphy.
The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Reverend Deacon Mike L. Jenkins officiating.
