Catherine Whisenant Rector

Catherine Whisenant Rector, 88, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was born in Burke County, NC on November 15, 1928 and was the daughter of the late William Sidney Whisenant and Mamie Secrest Whisenant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Gorman Eugene Smith; first husband, Gorman Smith; second husband, Bud Rector; and five brothers.
She is survived by sisters, Margaret Smith and Betty Cline; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 12 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hartman officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
