Cathy Edwards

Cathy Edwards, 61, of Morganton, NC died Monday, November 9, 2015. Born February 28, 1954 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Buster and Bertha Mae Hubbard Hyatt. She was a retired employee of Southern Devices where she was employed for 36 years, and she attended Grace Baptist Church. Cathy was a joyful person who was known for her beautiful smile. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and working in her flower garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Hyatt and a sister, Doris Hyatt.

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Edwards of the home; daughters, Lisa Ann Lail and husband, Robert, Jr. and Rebecca Griffith and husband, Steve all of Morganton; grandchildren, Robert M. Lail, Kendall and Bryce Griffith; great granddaughter, McKenleigh Lail; brothers, Roy Hyatt and wife, Audrey and Dennis Hyatt and wife, Lou all of Lenoir, NC, Jimmy Hyatt, Bobby Hyatt, and Johnny Hyatt and wife, Carla all of Morganton; and nieces, Tonya Hyatt and Nikki Harwood both of Morganton.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will follow in the funeral home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Smiley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. At all other times, the family will be at the residence.
